Longtime member of the council and former parishioner Joseph Anthony Barreca was laid to rest this afternoon, December 6, at Gethsemane in Federal Way. A noon memorial service followed at St. Francis of Assisi celebrated by Father Dick. He joined the Knights of Columbus in 1953.
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord; and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
The annual Pennies for Heaven potluck was held on the evening of May 16 in Unity Place. We had dishes of lasagna and chicken fettuccine with salads. For dessert there was an assortment of sweets including brownies.
Turnout was lower than last year, but we still weighed 120 pounds of coin and took in $76 in other donations. The total raised after including other donations was $357.
Our top donor by weight was Anonymous, reigning again with 59 lbs.
The top three individual donors were:
Lynn Johnson, 43 lbs.
Jack Erban, 6.5 lbs.
Michael Myers, 4 lbs.
Remember to come next year; bring your loose change and a food item in support of our State PFH fund to benefit seminarians.
