On September 13, the Knights hosted an evening prayer service in solidarity with persecuted Christians the world over, featuring the icon Our Lady Help of Persecuted Christians, created by Italian artist Fabrizio Diomedi.
The service included a hymn, scripture readings, papal catechesis, the rosary, and Litany of Our Lady.
Afterwards, ice cream was served downstairs in Unity Place. Donations totaled $75 and will go to the order’s Christian Refugee Relief Fund.
The annual Pennies for Heaven potluck was held on the evening of May 16 in Unity Place. We had dishes of lasagna and chicken fettuccine with salads. For dessert there was an assortment of sweets including brownies.
Turnout was lower than last year, but we still weighed 120 pounds of coin and took in $76 in other donations. The total raised after including other donations was $357.
Our top donor by weight was Anonymous, reigning again with 59 lbs.
The top three individual donors were:
Lynn Johnson, 43 lbs.
Jack Erban, 6.5 lbs.
Michael Myers, 4 lbs.
Remember to come next year; bring your loose change and a food item in support of our State PFH fund to benefit seminarians.
On the afternoon of Friday November 16, members of the council met at Navos on 152nd to present a donation of four boxes of children’s coats as part of this year’s Coats for Kids program.
Navos is a local facility that provides mental health services and works with children and youth.
Two additional boxes are on their way from Supreme and will be picked up and given on Saturday.
