The Brown Scapular

There is now a small basket in the vestibule of the church of basic brown scapulars for Lent. These are provided by our council and are free of charge. Please take as many as you would like for yourself or others and wear the scapular. If you are unfamiliar with this sacramental, it has been approved by the church for over seven centuries and represents a miniature habit of the Carmelite order. It is a physical sign of special devotion to the Blessed Virgin. Read about it here.

If you would like to receive the priestly blessing and entrance into the Confraternity of the Scapular of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, you can use this included prayer. This is encouraged, but even without the blessing the scapular is a powerful reminder of our faith.
